Donald and Emily Newell

Don and Emily have been operating as a real estate team since the Summer of 2008 when Don returned to serving clients after spending three years managing several branches of the company under its previous name of Town & Country, REALTORS®. He had been working with real estate clients for 35 years before that. Emily had at the time just graduated from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia with a Bachelors Degree in Jazz Piano Performance. She is now an Associate Broker and has been working full time in Real Estate since the creation of this team.

Don brings a lifetime of contacts and the experience in pricing, staging, negotiating and getting the transaction to closing. Emily brings an array of technological, organization and communication skills along with a keen eye for photography to display properties in their best view. Together we empower buyers and sellers by gathering data and presenting it in a way that allows them to make their best real estate related decisions.

Don has also been school board chair, is currently President of the local Rotary Club, is moderator for the Town of Unity meetings, is a trained mediator serving the Maine Association of Realtors and local Boards, is a past director of UBR – a local community service organization, and frequently volunteers on service projects. He currently serves on the Unity Energy Committee - whose mission is to change people’s opinion about what is acceptable in terms of energy consumption, and rides in the Trek Across Maine (180 miles from Bethel to Belfast on a bicycle every year to help raise funds for the Maine Lung Association).

In his “free” time Don enjoys growing quality trees and creating and sharing beautiful trails through the family woodlot – he grooms and track-sets 5 miles of cross-country ski trails during the winter, enjoys holiday weekends with family on Moosehead Lake, sings with two choruses, tries to travel 1500 to 2000 miles of unexplored snowmobile trails during the first full week of February each year (after 30 years he has to get a long way from home), has not missed “hunting camp week” for as long as he can remember, can still shape a golf shot in either direction, and loves to dance – swing anyone?

Emily also works with rentals doing rental placements and rent managing, has recently joined the Unity Volunteer Fire Department, and likes to spend her non-office time in her vegetable field, working on home projects, cross country skiing, canoeing, exercising and staying busy - but she is always up for a good BBQ or quality time with friends and family.
